David Bestué (Barcelona, 1980) opens a new site specific project for the Museu Nacional d´Art de Catalunya (MNAC) in Barcelona.
Sala 83 is an exercise in re-examining the museum’s collection through the eyes of David Bestué. The artist proposes a possible epilogue for the museum, a heterodox summary of forms, materials and elements displayed simultaneously, avoiding a chronological approach. A “last room” in the museum where some pieces from the collection can also be seen.
The artists intervenes on the actual artworks from the collection to créate new artifacts with new meanings and readings open to new possibilities.
David Bestué’s sculptures have a close relationship with architecture and writing. In his work mixes ideas coming from poetry, history of Art or Architecture, testing the literay and conceptual limits.
