Saturday 9th February 2019 in ROMBERG Arte Contemporanea’s Latina exhibition space we are inaugurating the second appointment of the collective WITHOUT TITLE, a fascinating journey in three stages through the history of the gallery.
The WAREHOUSE of a gallery does not have a specific name. It is, in fact, called warehouse: and it is an alchemical and mysterious place, a silent forge that hides the deep heart of the gallery, its history of personal and collective exhibitions, of catalogues and books, and of the many works that form the MEMORY of the place with its special humanity. The roots of a gallery owner emerge in the warehouse, his passions and his weaknesses, all of the small and large obsessions that govern a profession of skilful and courageous visionaries.
Building an exhibition using works from the warehouse means building an ever-changing adventure, a narrative that traces attitudes, inclination and strengths of the moment. A warehouse remains an elastic engine that changes over time, following the trends of space, the successes of an artist, the fortunes of a language, the beauty of the victories and the dignity of the defeats. For all that has just been said, having to identify a title that was a faithful mirror of an art warehouse, there was no better sentence than WITHOUT TITLE ...
When each work has its own original title, when the artists are different and the themes widely heterogeneous, when the exhibition arises from an idea without any specific themes, here is where the warehouse takes centre stage. This is its story, backstage becomes a stage and the paintings are transformed into the actors of an exhibition of crossed destinies. WITHOUT TITLE remains the best of possible titles, a neutral area that every painting, photography, sculpture… will fill with its own tension, its narrative convergences, its stylistic and conceptual themes. WITHOUT TITLE since every painting preserves its original title, its authorial vertigo, the autonomy of an invention that belongs only to its author.
Welcome back to the scene of delight, among the new titles of a show WITHOUT TITLE.
