ABSTRACT :
Sim Smith runs a diverse programme with a keen focus on exhibiting intergenerational artists, showing emerging work alongside that of established artists and collaborating with artist estates. A recent show was in collaboration with the John Hoyland Estate in an exhibition curated by gallery artist Tim Garwood exploring material dexterity in abstraction, including Martin Creed, John Hoyland, Chris Martin, Phillip Allen, Hannah Beerman, Michiel Ceulers, Tim Garwood, Marie Hazard, Hilda Kortei, Sadie Laska, Chris Martin, Jonathan McCree, and Yasmine Robinson. The gallery also gives those who have not shown in the UK before the opportunity to exhibit here. Sim Smith was the first to exhibit American artist Jenna Gribbon’s work in the UK in 2019 and then again in 2021. In the same year the gallery collaborated with the Agnès Varda Estate. In the last year represented gallery artists have been featured in ArtForum, Frieze Magazine, The New Yorker, The Guardian and Brooklyn Rail. The gallery is a member of NADA and the Gallery Climate Coalition. This year has shown further development for Parris, upcoming shows include Hauser and Wirth, a foundation show at the Green Family Art Foundation, a solo with us and also James Fuentes in LA. There is an institutional show in planning for 2025. This year Parris also showed with Massimo De Carlo and Carl Freedman.
