The show consists of photographs that illuminate the often-underappreciated triumphs of our daily being. The images vary in subject and in geographical location, and through them runs a common thread of engagement, chance, and wonder. In today’s digitally dependent world, where profit and survival hijack great amounts of time and mindshare, this show sets to reveal a parallel realm of experience and seeing. An experience that connects the viewer back to the ancient questions that hover above the abyss yet are often obscured by the challenge and monotony of everyday life.
“The title, Ecclesiastes on my Mind, is drawn from a text that has inspired me for much of my life, and which I’ve returned to time and again, the book of Ecclesiastes. For me, it made sense to pair a body of work that I’ve spent so much time creating, with a text that has also permeated my thinking for much of my life. Ecclesiastes is an interesting text because unlike many religious texts, it is not judgmental or a call to worship. In my mind it is a philosophical text, a wisdom text on how to lead and live your day-to-day life”. Nathan Leight.
