Pace is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new and historical work by Lucas Samaras, a pioneer of photography, sculpture, and digital art who has pushed the boundaries of image making throughout his career.
The exhibition centers around six of the artist’s Albums made over the past several years, each containing hundreds of images. Presented in their natively digital format, the Albums explore new aesthetic terrain while reimagining earlier bodies of work, such as the iconic AutoPolaroids of the 1960s and 1970s. In tandem with the Albums, a selection of the artist’s original Polaroid works will also be included in the show. The presentation, the artist’s 36th with Pace, focuses on Samaras’s daily practice of art making, underscoring his longstanding commitment to audacious experimentation with technologies of the image and of the self.
