Egan is a painter with a generous eye for something we instinctively pine for in this harsh world: unapologetic beauty. Egan creates spontaneous, gentle explosions of beauty on canvas, alive with movement and gestural expression that embody both pure visual pleasure for the viewer and the painter’s nimble relationship with the lustrousness of oil paint. In the studio, the synesthetic Egan listens to music which drives a direct physical response in color and gesture onto the canvas; it is a cross-sensory process where musical input meets Egan’s visual output to produce works of enormous formal and aesthetic delight.
