In the spectrum of Frederick Hammersley's career he created three distinct bodies of work, which he coined as "Organics, Geometrics and Hunches." With hindsight we can observe that Organics and Hunches share obvious similarities but appear diametrically different, even opposed, to Hammersley's Geometrics. However, as Arden Reed so astutely observed in his eponymous 2013 catalogue essay on the artist, Hammersley's brilliance was that these differences actually complement, even celebrate each other. In this Spotlight presentation, Miles McEnery Gallery has the rare opportunity to offer examples of all three genres.
