There is magic in British photographer Ellie Davies forest images. In her series “Stars” dense forests of the United Kingdom twinkle with overlaid images from the Hubble Telescope of the Milky Way, and other celestial phenomena evoke folktales of fairies and woodland creatures. These ancient forests combined with galaxies create a unique point of view that evokes the mystery of our surroundings. Each “altered landscape” is a reflection of Davies’ personal and cultural relationship to landscape and the forest. Davies brings a playful and thoughtful eye to her surroundings, and her work draws us in, and extends beyond the edge of the paper.
I have followed Ellie Davies' work for several years. They are the kind of photographs that just stick with you. We are honored to present an exhibition of works from two of her series, Stars and Between the Trees.
