Recognized as a Neo-Expressionist painter, Hunt Slonem's work is the result of his fascination with the manipulation and implementation of this medium for over 40 years. Slonem is best known for his paintings of animals like rabbits, birds and butterflies and often portraits of Abraham Lincoln, which he was once quoted as describing as his Marilyn Monroe in reference to Andy Warhol's repetitive portrait of the actress.
Hunt Slonem's works can be found in the permanent collections of 250 museums around the world, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Whitney, the Miro Foundation and the New Orleans Museum of Art.
