The gallery is pleased to announce its participation in Art Basel Miami Beach 2025, where we will present a solo exhibition of Anne Samat's work at Meridians, M15, from December 3-7. Through her sculptural works, Samat (b. 1973, Malacca, Malaysia) bridges cultures, identities, and artistic practices, creating pieces that are personal yet culturally resonant. Drawing from the weaving traditions of the Iban people of Sarawak, Samat combines traditional, handcrafted techniques with mass-produced materials from dollar stores. This dialogue between heritage and globalization highlights her reflections on production, gender, and cultural identity. Her deeply memoiristic work is a storytelling practice that charts her journey from Kuala Lumpur to New York City, transforming everyday objects into vibrant, cross-cultural narratives. In Samat's hands, forks, funnels, and rakes become vessels of memory and meaning, inviting us to reflect on our shared systems, values, and identities.
