With this showcase, Lüthi once again extends an invitation for viewers to find solace in an otherwise discomforting world. Similar to the poet Pier Paolo Pasolini (1922 - 1975), who uncovered moments of joy amidst gloom, Lüthi's focus, as usual, remains on evoking emotions.
The artworks presented in this exhibition center – in Lüthi's signature style – on the theme of self-portraiture. However, the artist takes a for him unconventional approach by painting on canvas: pastel-colored squares harmonize geometrically, forming different motifs when looked at from a certain distance. With this departure, Lüthi masterfully navigates between recognition and ambiguity and in doing so, prompts viewers to contend with a spectrum of emotions, be it puzzlement or resonance. Lüthi excels in crafting a conceptual sentimentality, narrating his tale from numerous vantage points.
