Wilde is thrilled to announce the opening of Rafael Lozano-Hemmer's first solo exhibition in Basel 'EXCUSE YOU!'. Likening the show to an assortment of breaches, stammers, or obstacles, Lozano-Hemmer uses play as an apparatus to question some of the most pressing issues of the contemporary moment. Topics at the forefront include surveillance, climate change, and how digital life collides with lived experience.
The exhibition will open on the occasion of the Art Basel week with special hours: Mon-Sat, 11 AM - 6 PM. Please join us for the vernissage, in the artist's presence, on Monday, 13 June from 5 - 9 PM.
Rafael Lozano-Hemmer was born in 1967 in Mexico City and lives and works in Montréal, Canada. Lozano-Hemmer is considered one of the most relevant electronic artists of our time. Since his emergence in the 1990s, he has mixed the disparate fields of digital media, robotics, medical science, performance art, and lived experience into interactive artworks. He is known for creating large-scale interactive installations in public spaces at the intersection of architecture and performance throughout Europe, Asia, and North America.
