Peres Projects is pleased to announce Ad Minoliti's solo exhibition, Furry Tales, curated by Rafael Barber Cortell, at La Casa Encendida, Madrid. It is the first presentation of a four-chapter solo exhibition series titled Fantastic Interior. Furry Tales opens January 27 and will run untMarch 27, 2022.
Ad Minoliti uses the world of stories to invent a fictional space where the artist reshuffles and reinterprets the popular tale of Little Red Riding Hood. The exhibition creates a speculative stage that examines the political and queer dimension of childhood. This immersive installation subtly navigates the symbolic strategies that the establishment uses to mould us and assign us an identity from the moment we begin to exist within a binary system.
Ad Minoliti (b. 1980 in Buenos Aires, AR) received their BFA from the National Academy of Fine Arts Prilidiano Pueyrredon, Argentina, in 2003. Minoliti's multivalent practice draws from the visual languages of modernist forms, popular culture and geometric architectural representation. The artist's work, expressed in the intricate scenes and characters staged by Minoliti, imagines utopic, trans-human, genderqueer futures while maintaining and insisting on the universality of our shared humanity.
