Federico Romaguera (Potríes, Valencia 1963) is a painter, portrait artist, stage designer (works for Teatro Real in Madrid, Liceo in Barcelona, films ...with Odeón Decorados) and cultural activist. Illustrious pens and art experts like Lydia Frasquet, Manolo Farreras, Bernart Capó, Cristóbal Zaragoza, Josep LLuís Peris, Ximo Company, Gerard Fromanger, Miguel Signes, Josep Vicent Marqués, etc. have written about him. In 1987, the exhibition in Paris gives a twist to his career after meeting the dealer Jean Lupone, key in the international artistic movement, who projects him as a portrait painter and supports him in his long and productive career.
Last projects of Romaguera created between 2015-2016 recall the revolution of the silent film: "VOYAGE DANS LA LUNE" of Méliès, an important puppet show of Tries Titelles with his stage creation; And his "GRAND CINEMA" presented by IB Gallery with bi- and tri-dimensional works made in various techniques, in memory and homage to films such as The Birth of a Nation, Potemkin's Battleship, Doctor Caligari's Cabinet, and many more. In words of Lydia Frasquet:
"... The works of Romaguera seek to have the same aesthetics of these early films, so that we get very stained and castigated images ... and the exaggerated and grandiloquent gestures of silent cinema ..."
His monumental work METROPOLIS will be presented at all three sites of the Riurau Film Festival this September.
