From September 30th and until November 30th, 2016 IB ISABEL BILBAO-Galería de Arte, shows for the firs time in Jávea / Xàbia the work of the Galician artist Pedro Muiño.
Born in Irixoa in 1954, his family moved to Vigo on the same year. His father, musician, decided to emigrate to the Venezuelan city of Trujillo in 1958, returning to Vigo in 1963. In 1971 they settled in Ferrol, where Muiño began exhibiting his paintings with only 17 years.
He graduated in Nautical Studies in A Coruña, and shortly after he embarked for two years. He lived in Huelva between 1978 and 1979, and returned to A Coruña, where he founded Gruporzán with other artists from La Coruña. In 1996 he moved to Catalonia where he spent a year and a half before moving to Alicante, where he currently resides.
Despite his errant character, he never lost his ties to Galicia. Muiño often writes considerations and reflections on his painting, perception and thoughts in an analytical and sincere way. On his recent work he writes:
"... Stains, gestures, lines, colour, are giving the keys of the work process and allow continuity. These elements are obsessively designed, measured, controlled, trying to free it has no place in the work, the story has disappeared to allow sober is the main actor I understand they are works of a "great strain contained."; and while I recognize that contemplation by the viewer of a large number of these works can be somewhat austere, I also understand that plasticity should not stop being attractive to that viewer and their possible reading should not be difficult. my work is certainly far from the art-show, whose deployment does not wake my interest ...
... The method I use to put title to the works, it remains the same, 'the collective baptism'. I attach great importance to titles, could avoid them perfectly, the artistic value of the works would not change, but missing something I find interesting, what the author thinks when it works, when he lives, concerns that assail him, desires, doubts, the cravings, the anxieties, mental situations that surround it ... "
