Soplo, Ernesto Neto’s major traveling retrospective exhibition, opens today at Centro Cultural La Moneda in Santiago, Chile. A selection of over 80 works is on view in the two large rooms of the main hall, curated to create a playful energy as different mediums interact with each other and with visitors.
In his work, Neto works closely with Amazonian communities as he investigates ancestral practices and knowledge to present us new realities and possibilities for contemporary art and its connection with heritage. In his works, he utilizes natural elements such as cork, sand, and spices such as clove and saffron, to build scenes that invite us to reflect on our position as human beings in relation to other living beings, our undeniable vocation to be in a relationship with others, and our harmony with nature.
The exhibition is on view by appointment through March 21st, 2021.
