Ten Haaf Projects is pleased to announce “Eclectic Images 1974-2014”, a solo exhibition by Anders Goldfarb.
Born and raised in New York, Goldfarb has worked for the last 43 years with an analogue camera shooting black and white film. His passion for making photographs extends to printing his own work.
A great inspiration and influence to him was Saul Leiter, whom he assisted for 10 years. Goldfarb has worked on every aspect of the medium, from portraiture to street photography. Through it he deals with the underlying themes of irony, mystery, decay, displacement and death. His subjects have led him to various places beyond New York, including New England, San Francisco, Mexico, and further to Berlin, Prague, Budapest and Krakow.
Goldfarb was born in 1954 to Holocaust survivors. The suffering endured by his parents put him on a quest to document the beauty and sadness of everyday life. This exposition presents a selection from the four-decade period of Goldfarb’s work. Through his lens, viewers will in one instance walk down a sleazy 1970’s New York alley, and in the next feel the idyllic summer breeze of Martha’s Vineyard in the 1980’s.
In addition to having his work featured in exceptional private collections, Anders Goldfarb has also shown in several important institutions, such as PS1 in New York. This is his first solo show in the Netherlands.
