Ten Haaf Projects is pleased to announce: “Be My Valentine”, a group show held in the temporary gallery space at Geldersekade 30 in Amsterdam.
Valentine’s Day (February 14th) is around the corner, a day on which people pay homage to that special person. According to one legend, it was established as an early Christian tradition, after the priest Valentine was put to death for marrying soldiers against the will of Roman Emperor Claudius. During the Middle Ages, February 14th was seen as the beginning of birds’ mating season, so a good day for romance. Today, Valentine’s Day is celebrated in most of the Western world.
Ten Haaf Projects has asked some of the fantastic artists we collaborate with to produce works with the theme Valentine’s Day. There will be works on paper, canvas, and a performance.
The exhibition will be opened by German sensation Chris Catme, whose larger than life musical and visual performance will put visitors in a Valentine’s Day mood. Influenced by Warhol’s society portraits, Paul McCarthy in his early performances and German Schlager music, Catme likes to make noise.
