OVERVIEW :
Situated on a narrow street between upscale Gaien-nishi Dori street and a historical slope that dates back to medieval Tokyo, MAHO KUBOTA GALLERY opened in March 2016, specializing in contemporary art. The gallery space is located in Jingumae, an area of cultural crossover where Harajuku and Aoyama overlap. The location ensures easy access from anywhere in Central Tokyo. Since its opening, the gallery has presented works by artists who highlight gender issues, later including artists who use a cognitive psychology approach in practices exploring what happens when people view art, in terms of how processes in the human brain respond to art and instigate contemplation. Another interest is works by artists who give poetic expression to the history of human creativity and the richness of human intellect by building on universal narratives that transcend temporal and geographical considerations. People who come into daily contact with art and make it an integral part of their way of living experience the great chemistry that art brings to life. The gallery attempts to provide a space where such viewers can encounter free and open experimentation through exhibitions with the potential to plant powerful memories that grow to inspire independent thought and exploration.

ABOUT EXHIBITION : Golden Hour
In my latest exhibition, "Golden Hour," I am investigating deeply personal moments captured during my travels. These paintings are a snapshot of the intimate experiences that have shaped my world and my place within it. The title, "Golden Hour," refers to that enchanting period just after sunrise or before sunset when the quality of light transforms the environment with a warm, almost magical glow. This fleeting light serves as a metaphor for the transient yet impactful moments in our lives—those precious instances that are here one second and gone the next, much like the ephemeral beauty of the golden hour itself. Each piece in the show is a visual diary entry, encapsulating the essence of places I've visited and the emotions they've evoked. The interplay of light and reflections in my work not only highlights the physical beauty of these moments but also alludes to their transient nature. The soft glows, elongated shadows, and reflective surfaces serve as visual reminders of how quickly time passes, urging viewers to find beauty and meaning in the present moment. This exhibition is not just a collection of places and scenes—it is a celebration of the joy found in impermanence and a reflection on the innate human desire to hold onto moments that are, by their very nature, ungraspable. It is my hope that "Golden Hour" encourages the viewer to pause, reflect, and embrace the beautiful impermanence of our experiences.
