OVERVIEW :
Giorgio Persano began his activity in the ‘70s with the galleria Multipli, where his interest is focused on international contemporary art – in particular American Pop Art and Italian Arte Povera. He makes multiples in limited editions in collaboration with artists such as Pistoletto, Zorio and Calzolari. In 1975, some of these artists started using the Gallery space as a workshop, making installations and experimenting with creative processes that go beyond the constricting criteria of the exhibition. Since then he curates the projects and the production of the works by establishing a close collaboration with his artists.

ABOUT EXHIBITION : The Gods
Giorgio Persano is pleased to host, in the inner garden of Palazzo Scaglia di Verrua, three new large paintings by Luisa Rabbia, from her most recent series titled The Gods.
The exhibition, conceived as a space for reflection on the vulnerability and unpredictability of human existence, intertwines current events with cosmology and literary elements such as Ovid’s Metamorphoses – also depicted in the cycle of seventeenth-century frescoes on the facade and in the courtyard of the gallery. For Ovid, a true understanding of the world means denying its oppressive solidity and allowing everything to transform into something else. Consequently, a metamorphosis from one matter to another is possible, despite external appearances, because all forms originate from the same substance. This intrinsic kinship among all living entities lies at the center of Luisa Rabbia’s artistic language. Representations of human beings, bodies that evoke landscapes, cellular and vegetal forms, everything merges in her work reflecting the artist’s interest in the concept that all things are the cooperating cause of everything that exists.
Using an expressive and personal language, Luisa Rabbia’s works represent more or less abstract bodies that evoke temporality, spirituality, inner landscapes, and the interconnection between living forms. Despite being inspired by the contemporary moment, the artist seeks a timeless language that extends beyond the everyday and invites contemplation of the complexities of human existence.

ABOUT ARTISTS : Luisa Rabbia
She studied at Liceo Artistico Primo and at Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti in Torino. In 2000, she moved to New York City, where she currently lives and works. The artist explores the psycho-social nuances of humanity, from the individual sphere to the collective experience. Her approach, intuitive and emotional, has deep roots in drawing, but over the years has extended from the surface of paper to media such as ceramics, papier-mâché, video animation, and most recently, oil painting on canvas.
