BURRI THE POETRY OF MATTER
"I love Burri because he is not only the greatest painter of today but he is also the main cause of envy for me: he is today the first poet".
The affirmation of Giuseppe Ungaretti, one of the greatest oracular voices of the twentieth century, combined with the words spent over time for the Umbrian artist by as many famous poets, including Emilio Villa, Libero De Libero, Leonardo Sinisgalli, Pierre de Mandiargues and up to Valentino Zeichen, helps to understand why the new, highly anticipated exhibition of the Ferrero Foundation, in collaboration with the Burri Foundation of Città di Castello, in an advanced stage of preparation, bears the title BURRI, the Poetry of Matter.
The extensive review of works chosen from his major repertoire, starting from 1945 and with the first "Catrami" (1948) and then up to the last works "Oro e Nero" dated 1993, close to his death in 1995, is in fact aimed at highlighting how the poetic entity is not the exclusive prerogative of writing in verse, but of every other language of art - from painting to music - capable of bringing to light the profound essence of reality.
