The exhibition is the photographic development of the artist's recent journey, as always, attentive to a perception of reality in which time and space interpenetrate, generating a series of variables that are "immobilized", yields fixed by shots and graphic interventions on the shots. The graphics manage to enclose, albeit momentarily, the permanence of Giancarlo Dell'Antonia's characteristic images, an artist who in this case exploits the skills of graphic designer and photographer and enhances its yield and turns it into an abstract work.
The works from cycles with emblematic titles are exhibited: "Uncertain perspectives", "Disconnected landscape " and "Crossing the spot" from which emerges a method of approach closely linked to the concept of "journey". The artist's presentation is curated by the critic and Art historian Paola Bristot (Academy of Fine Arts of Venice); the title "Geomatics of the gaze" summarizes and gives a stringent and current reading key to the artist's methodology, "... to give dignity to apparently insignificant places , modern blocks of flats, corners of mountains, roofs of social housing, detached houses, hypermarkets and the conceptualization that maps them, piles them up, within rational schemes, the result of reasoning and transposition experiments and becomes a line that segments them and fixes them, beyond their apparent making. A geography of the gaze that is not completely immune to the digital contamination that inevitably has come under its skin, but which, even in the works where it is most pushed, bends to an artistic praxis that deliberately and forcibly models its shape”. In the exhibition project there are also three sculptures that concretely shift the level of perception of spatiality investigated by the artist onto the three-dimensional non-virtual plane.
Giancarlo Dell’Antonia, was born in 1956 in Lorenzago di Cadore, Italy. He lives and works in Vittorio Veneto, Italy.
