Trisha Baga (Venice, Florida, 1985; lives and works in New York) is one of the most innovative and active young film-makers and artists of her generation. Her work includes the use of different devices and media, including installations, sculptures, performances, and videos. The artist draws from the imaginaries of the television, the Web, and amateur video clips and re-elaborates them through editing and overlapping soundtracks. These devices intend to deal with themes like gender identity, the digital world, and the technological evolution.
For her first major institutional show in Italy the artist will present a large corpus of works creating an unpredictable narrative. A series of complex 2D and 3D video installations made using low-tech devices will intersect with sculptures and everyday objects, outlining a different kind of perspective of the contemporary imaginary.
A number of international institutions have hosted this artist’s solo shows, including Gallery TPW, Toronto (2018); CCC, Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, Harvard College, Cambridge (2017); 356 Mission Road, Los Angeles (2015); Zabludowicz Collection, London (2014); Peep-Hole, Milan (2013); Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, Kunstverein Munich, Munich (2012).
