Francesco Pantaleone Arte Contemporanea is pleased to announce "We are two abysses - a well staring at the sky" solo-show's Ignazio Mortellaro, curated by Agata Polizzi.
Ignazio Mortellaro (Palermo, 1978) is an artist, architect, and engineer. His background brings him to investigate, with an experimental approach, the various settings of knowledge. His work is open and looks at possibility as method. The exhibition, "We are Two Abysses - a well staring at the Sky", restores more hyper textual levels and proposes views that penetrate art and science. The works give body to a dynamic vision describing landscapes and contexts as though they were experiences “in transit.”
There are two series of works on display accompanied by an installation. The Land series, subtraction sculptures, displays places where physical places meet conceptual ones, where the artificial redefines space and thoughts where idea and material are pervaded. Mindscapes, collage made from archival images, structural and construction projects, documents taken from reality, all rearranged following a tilting and stitching pattern, produces surreal and innovative images. In the end, the installation Infinity of Infinities transposes the vision of the artist into material according to different combinations of the infinite number of universes that surround us.
On the occasion of his solo-show, a catalogue of the artist's work will be presented to the public, "Ignazio Mortellaro works and essays 2011-2017" curated by Valentina Bruschi and Agata Polizzi.
