This exhibition is meant to unfold in part around the angles formed between the artworks; for decades now, I have been guided by the impulse to link different points in time, points of contrast, points of support.
In Letto (“Bed,” 1966), metals and plant matter anticipate the weight, the imprints that will change them.
In Per purificare le parole (“To Purify Words,” 1980), three javelins hold up a Pyrex flask, which waits for the alcohol to purify words... and turn them to spirit.
The Marrano con treccia (" Marrano with Braid,” 2016) swells, hisses, twists and turns.
The Canoa aggettante (“Jutting Canoe,” 2016) rises up and rejects its final landing place, elevating its liquid fuel.
The Stella calibrata (“Calibrated Star,” 2016) is sustained and sustains the alchemies, the measures of art’s tools.
Echoes are woven together from work to work, pointing to and blurring into a journey half a century long...
They want to fluctuate in blissful weariness. There is no failure, there might be some nostalgia for the future.
Darkness creeps in, memory returns, and perhaps the cosmic sowing comes closer to the notes.
