“It is a joy to be hidden, and disaster not to be found.” (D.W. Winnicott)
Lee Yanor’s new exhibition is a continuation of the And Now event that took place in Varda Hall at the Suzanne Dellal Center (Link to the Video). And Now displayed Yanor’s new video works in a unique space that is not usually intended for art exhibitions and allowed a different experience in video installation. Additionally, the event included a live performance by Batsheva dance performers and a screening of Yanor’s movie, Coffee with Pina.
Now, back in Zemack’s intimate gallery space, a new syntax has been created, drawn from a collection of works from different moments, like a glance that breaks down, assembles, enlarges, isolates and receives meanings and new contexts. The thoughts about connections and disconnects in Yanor's work stem from the very fact of her work, where she sometimes extracts images from the videos. She freezes the movement that allows the viewer to stay in a moment; to control time. Yanor’s unique world is a world in which the body expresses the secret language of the soul.
In addition to the two new video works, And Now and Only One Story, the exhibition will also introduce new emulsion on canvas works where Yanor returns to the beginning of the history of photography. She "paints" with the sensitive material in the darkroom and prints the fabrics one by one with a unique print. The result is a one-time outcome, both controlled and uncontrolled, like a monotype. In addition, photo prints on rice paper, works photographed in Super 8 and hologram / lenticular works will be displayed - photographs that are viewed with the movement in space.
As in holograms (Greek - "Holus" – whole, and "Garma" - message), the whole of the works of Yanor consists of fragments that connect to the "complete message" through movement, dissolution, and each time in different contexts.
