In the North Gallery, Austrian artist, Martin C. Herbst in 'Revisited' is showing a series of painted sculptural spheres and a series of painting that reference Valasquez and specifically the portrait of his assistant, Juan de Parega.
Herbst works often reference his keen knowledge of art history. As stated, the wall dependent works reference Valasquez and the spheres refer to the mannerist painter, Parmigianino's self- portrait he executed while looking at his reflection in a shaving mirror. In both instance these historical works are a point of departure for Herbst's image making practice.
