The work has a strong autobiographical character. Born in Belgium as the son of Ukrainian parents, he experiences the paradox of being Belgian with an Ukrainian name.
This identity crisis leads to the experience of a cultural conflict, the equivalent of two irreconcilable extremes. The art is a personal ritual to bridge personal and cultural duality.
The ancient wisdom of the alchemy forms thereby its artistic guiding principle. Moszowski's search for its identity and his place as human being and artist adopts conformation of a complex ‘Gesamtkunst’ project, a personal mythology.
Alchemical terms such as ‘separatio’ and ‘coniunctio’ (to separate and to join the elements to reach an ultimate entity) are translated by the artist, conceptually and expressive in texts, drawings and spatial installations.
Vladimir Moszowski’s large paintings are evoking an ephemeral temporality viewers feel like they are part of the picorial instant and its unique magic.
