IN BEING ABLE TO RE-HORIZON THE CONNOTATIONS IN HUMAN SCALE AND DIMENSION (OF MORAL/SENSUAL/INTELLECTUAL /CULTURAL VALUE), NOT A CALCULATIVE, IN-GROUP ISOLATION BUT A MORE STRETCHABLE, TANGIBLE VIEW WILL ENFOLD.
While identities are hacked to fragmentation and beyond own search, once authentic moments, like the first kiss, turn to an empty image in its artificial reproduction. Invaded by images, one is conditioned to simulate according to simulacra, to reduce and hide capacities to evolve, to stereotype and vulgarize by judging ourselves and others accordingly. Are we still able to picture a sensual ‘human perspective/view’ or are we stuck in a strategized, conditioned mission against ‘being human‘? Only by weaving the paint back and forth, investigate through the patterns into the fabric of our reality and still perceive what is true about the ‘human’ horzion beyond being out-of dimension, isolated and abstracted from a self-reducing view from ‘above’.
Vouloir se brûler, pouvoir se detruire. [Wanting to burn, able to destroy.] The installations by Kumpermond bridge a constant criticism on dimensions, depiction and its projections with a turn to physical materiality: requestioning the substance of the carrier of the image itself. Canvas changes from its raw state into an investigation of the tissue. Painting is brought back to its true material dimension; layers of paint and pigments turn into particles of the 'human‘ in search of portraying self.
