Booth B32
At this year’s Artgenève, Galerie Urs Meile will show a selection of works by established swiss and chinese artists, but will also take this opportunity to present new works from the latest additions to their program. The presentation will include works by chinese artists such as Shao Fan, Qiu Shihua, Cao Yu, Ju Ting, Xie Qi, Yang Mushi, Miao Miao and Chen Zuo and also works by swiss and italian artists like Aldo Walker, Marion Baruch, Urs Lüthi, Jakob Bill, Julia Steiner and Rebekka Steiger.
SOLO BOOTH A32 BY MIRKO BASELGIA: (y)our body is an action track
your body is an action track (2022), a sculpture of the same hight as the artist himself, Mirko Baselgia marks a presence that questions the viewer and his or her body. Created out of hundreds of overlying stone pine wood veneers, it shows parallels to the shell shields of turtles, to which a growth strip is added each year, or the trunk of trees, with its annual rings. your body is an action track is a meditation on the natural forms and laws that govern life on Earth, a reflection that is echoed in the gingko reliefs on the walls, which symbolize the coexistence of unity and duality, and the idea of harmony of opposing things. The Gingko works are part of an ongoing series of wooden reliefs representing a fragment of a gingko tree, whose leafs have been a symbol of love and friendship, complementarity, and interweaving of unity and polarity.
