Korean artist Choe U-Ram is a key figure in contemporary mechanic installation and kinetic art. His works are so lively, dancing aloft, as if one can hear them breathe; they are perfectly staged performance through electric equipment and programming.His works are extremely delicate handmade art pieces, accomplished under thousands of hours of labor, eventually materializing wild imaginations of torce. lt's a feast of senses on sophisticated ma chines, with a radical gesture in art, embodying the infinite beauty of the conservation of energy. Ilis hailed as 'Anima Machine'.
Lamb Shop series marks a new turn in Choe U-Ram's art practices. He transforms gìgantìc powered installations into conceptual lighting equipment glowing in the dark. This series originates lrom his teenage dream, where the micro parts are projected by light screens, and the structure of the sculptures looms lucid and animateci in sight. Again, Choe employs metals, motors and LED lights as the basis; from prototype design, produc tion, molding, connecting parts, to polish ing,he contracts the project to make possi ble the fineness and delicacy he desires. Choe designs,cuts, assembles, and refines everything by himself ;he accomplishes the entire project alone thai ilbecomes a f orm of his life. When the kinetic glowing objects simulate, explore, and slowly morph into countless cosmic bodies, their every turn always amazes the audience. Day or night, motionless or in flow, Choe U-Ram's art seeps into our imagination withits peculiar kinetic vitality,flyìng wherever the creativity leads.
